Calabasas, CA: Smoking is something only poor people do anyway
Posted by: nmessick In: rant
And we know what Calabasas thinks about poor people!
Anyway, a couple years ago Calabasas passed a city ordnance that banned smoking in public places. This ban was largely ineffective, as evidenced by the ashtray at my former workplace being constantly so full of cigarette butts it occasionally caught on fire. But, like most laws, a bunch of politicians got to pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
Now, Calabasas wants to take to the next level and ban smoking inside people’s own fucking apartments:
The new ordinance would require at least 80 percent of apartments to be permanently designated as non-smoking units by 2012.
This means that if you live at the Archstone and pay $2k a month you would have to drive down to Agoura Hills to have a smoke.
Now, most of the residents are great people that just happen to make more money then the rest of us. But, if I was going to choose parts of LA for the person who wishes the brown/poor folk (except for the “help” of course, they need those) were mowed down by machine guns at the city border, Calabasas is right at the top of that list.
